Team Teagan Update | 7-29
"Tangles", This week is almost over, and the end can't come soon enough. These poisonous chemicals pumped into our child, which we know are necessary, are slowly getting the best of her (not to mention us). Besides fighting to keep the numerous plastic tubes which tether Teagan to her life pole, from getting wrapped around her legs, arms and any of the pieces of furniture, we struggle to keep her calm and out of pain from the roaring rash of all rashes on her bottom. Because she is receiving her treatments continuously along with a constant drip of other unknown fluids, each time she has a bowel movement, she screams with her eyes begging for help. The Chemo has caused her skin on her bottom to become so raw and red, our heart aches each time we have to change her knowing what it will entail. She is incredible strong, and it takes 2 of us to change her diaper while she wrenches her body and kicks her legs ... This afternoon we finally convinced the Doctors to provide some more powerful pain relief in the form of Morphine for Teagan, although both Holly and I would have welcomed a dose too... It was just enough to take the edge off in between diaper changes and allow Teagan some much needed pain-free rest... We're certain that having our nurse witness first my meltdown, followed shortly by Holly's, had much to do with convincing the doctors of this course of action...
We are so very grateful to the Laharts and Farmans, who managed to survive entertaining our boys over the weekend. As the boys would surely have been greatly affected by witnessing Teagan doing her "Linda Blair's (The Exorcist) impression these last two days. She did stop just short of the green chunky vomit and spinning head, but she did have that bed rockin' pretty good...
Two more days before she comes home... we've got our fingers crossed. After this, we plan for the dreaded round six, which will be almost identical to this round. Uggghhh.
Holly and Teagan did move to room D727, and can be reached at (518) 262-0319, if you wanted say hi.
Be Well, and thanks to you all for being part of Team Teagan
