Team Teagan Update | 6-7

“The Twilight Zone”, It seems we’ve entered this oh so strange a place. As our days approach we look to the heavens and ask “what next”, and someone up there seems to think “hmmm” lets have some fun… OK we give!!! It’s someone else’s turn to deal. We’ve had enough fun for one year… hell we’ve had enough fun for a lifetime!!!

So, our latest challenge involves yet another member of our family, Parker, one of our two Basset Hounds. The last few days he’s been acting strange, not eating, just lying around - not that he actually ever moves very much unless there is food involved, but even with food, he could not get motivated… after a couple days like this we decided we should take him to the vet and have him checked out… after some tests, which included a biopsy – and NO, this is not just some joke or my warped sense of humor – we were told today that he has advanced Hodgkin’s Lymphoma… a.k.a. CANCER! So after the blank stare faded, I pinched my ass to make sure I was not just having some bizarre dream… then I pinched Holly’s ass to make sure she was not dreaming and just because I felt liked it… nope not dream!... He’s only 8 years old, and a very much part of our family. After a discussion with our vet, we came up with a plan to make his remaining days as comfortable as possible, feed him lots of table food and enjoy him for what we’re told could be as short as a month or two. It’s certainly going to be a very sad time for all of us, including the boys… Today during a discussion with Maria, my close friend from Tanzania (Africa), who is visiting, I told her we quit!!! We’re done… we’re taking our ball out of the sandbox … no more! Maybe we should move and take over her beach house on the African coast… I’m telling ya, that idea is looking better each day…

Lets to turn to some happier thoughts, because we need to remain strong for each other, for our kids and our friends and family. We promise to hang around at least until after the Benefit at Treepaad this Saturday… In the last couple days we’ve had some companies come forward and offer lots of help for the event, which besides food and drink, includes some really awesome (I know I sound old and un-cool using that word), but you’ll agree when you finish reading this… We’re going to have a huge raffle for prizes which include stuff like; a salsa & spice gift basket, a cookie bouquet, a custom built picnic table, portable pool vacuum, glider flight over Saratoga, a complete beauty package which includes hair cut, color and facial and hopefully if we can work out the details tomorrow, a Golf Package at Saratoga National Gold Club…. So not only will your kids have the time of their lives, but you’ll have a shot at some great prizes too.

We want to make sure to thank all the companies and individuals who are working so hard to make this event happen, especially Patti and Candy, who so graciously offered their brand new facility. And also all of you who plan on attending the event with us.

As of tonight, other than a raging diaper rash, our Teagan is still hanging in there and preparing for her 4th round of chemo, which will start immediately after the benefit. Holly and Teagan will be at Club AMC, thru Thursday and hopefully manage to come home without any residual problems, because frankly we’ve had it… it’s time for someone to take over for a while…. PLEASE! We can’t deal with anything else, there is only so much a person or family can handle and our cup is full, wouldn’t you agree?
