Team Teagan Update | 5-23

Hello Team Teagan,

“Hairball”, that’s what our little miss was playing with earlier today in her bed (Sad Face). As you can probably imagine, it means only one thing… The dreaded hair loss has arrived! At this point we’d hoped that we would get lucky and miss that part… Oh well! At least we’ve already completed 3 treatments of her chemo sessions, and we’re just that much closer to having it grow back. And come to think of it, wasn’t “Kojak” just a really good-looking fella anyways? Not to mention Demi Moore (Actress), Eve Salvail (Model), and Sinead O'Connor (Singer) just to mention a few who’ve been bald… plus we’ll save a bundle on Baby Shampoo for a while. Yeah it’s sad, but as we did everything else, we’ll get through it.

Plus, she’s still home, and for that we’re totally grateful, except right now at 10:47pm when she’s still playing peek-a-boo in her crib, and deciding that it would be oh so much fun to toss her blanket, pillow, water bottle, binky… ahh, books and there goes her dolly… out across the floor… OK, whose turn is it to put them back this time? Oh sure you’re thinking, just leave them! Of course that would work, except she has discovered WE respond real well to SCREAMING! Would it be wrong to put just a little Tylenol and Benedryl into her water bottle??? So, now she’s in bed with us, yeah that worked. Now she’s s-l-o-w-l-y, reaching for the keyboard of the laptop… This may take a while!

So far she’s managed to stay home for 10 days, only making 2 trips to AMC for blood tests and a blood transfusion (yesterday), her counts are dropping steadily (faster than her hair), but she’s managed to fight off any fever and infection even though little Tanner has had a fever since last Friday. He seems to be recovering and should be better by tomorrow. Poor Tyler, with her SCREAMING, GRUNTING and just being a little sleepless monster, and Tanner snoring, he’s getting almost as little sleep as Holly and I…

The boys have been awesome these last few weeks, really trying to be good and helpful. So, I have to sheepishly say we rewarded them with another oh so dreaded “Webkin”, those furry little dust collectors, but they seem to like them and are busy collecting “Webkin” goods, furniture and food to keep them healthy… yeah, yeah, whatever!

Things are a happening… We’re so excited; we have two great events coming up in June… First, our good friends Patti and Candy, the owners of that cool place in Glens Falls, TreePaad ( www.treepaad.com) are throwing a huge benefit for Teagan on Saturday, June 9th from 5:00pm until 10:00pm. They just opened this awesome, fun and safe facility this week, and as I like to refer to it as “ChuckyCheese on Steroids” (those of you with kids can surely relate)… It’s REALLY cool and looks like fun for all ages. It should be a great event. They offered to opening the whole place, including the party rooms, unlimited LaserTag, JumpShot Basketball and this HUGE climbing tower with slides and cannons exclusively for the event for $10.00 a person. We’re lining up some vendors for food and snacks too… Should be a blast. If you’re planning a birthday part for any of your kids, you definitely want to check it out, there’s nothing like anywhere in the area. (Shameless plug) Also, a local runner, Jackie Scotti has been very busy organizing a 5K Benefit Run/Walk on Saturday, June 30th at Saratoga State Park. She’s raising money to benefit our little Teagan and the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, and still has some great sponsorship opportunities available. We’re working on a couple of detailed flyers to distribute, which we’ll post to the website in the next couple days, so stay tuned and look for it. And hopefully we’ll all see you at either or both of the events… Spread the Word!!!

Oh yeah, its 11:42pm and she’s finally asleep… didn’t even need to drug her… Just kidding about that anyways, just in case that’s illegal… (Smile).

Take care and be well, and as always, thanks for all your help and support.
