Team Teagan Update | 4-6

Hello Team Teagan,

Well, Holly and Teagan are safely home again after completing her 2nd round of chemo. This visit just seems like a big b-l-u-r. Maybe it's because it's become somewhat "normal" or maybe because Holly and I are just walking in a constant "fog"... probably the "Fog", or maybe it's the shock I got last week when I went to Hannaford to pick up Teagan's Medicine and the Pharmacy Tech wanted to confirm that "this" was seriously what I wanted (or rather the Doctor Prescribed) and that I would come back for it!!! Hmmm, that made me wonder... so, I asked the the obvious... WHY! Oh it cost like $600.00.... UGHHH. I'm not trying to buy Hannaford, just get a 3oz bottle of medizine for my daughter... And I thought the gas prices were bad... Guess these pharmaceutical companies want some of that 10 billion profit Mobil had last year... Pheww, a quick call to Dr. Porter gave us a reprieve and change in medicine...

So, as expected Teagan was a complete trooper with her chemo treatments and yet another blood transfusion she had today. Although she's getting a bit more rebelious about being contained in her "Jail Cell" crib, and is frequently seen contorting her leg up to the bed rail in a effort to vault over the top... she sure does try... no slowing her down yet.

Because the fever can come at any time, Holly has already done laundry and repacked both their hospital bags (I'm guessing her stash of M&M's are safely hidden in the side pocket). We've made tentative arrangements for the boys next week, who thankfully, have not shown any signs yet of rebelling or desires of having us deported to Mexico... although, being in a 3rd world country south of the border, sipping on a Margaritta on the beach does sound somewhat inviting... But, slipping into the basement to sneak a stale bottle of Michelobe Ultra is probably a more realistic goal at this point, so long Teagan doesn't spiked her fever yet... Oh how life has changed!

Well, we're hoping to make it through Easter before she has to return to AMC, plus our friend Lisa Camoine has already promised a nice Easter Meal delivery on Sunday, which is definately a better outlook than the vision of the Hospital Food Holly and Teagan have been enjoying in the last 7 weeks...

On our drive home today, Holly and I realized that she has only been home a total of nine (9) days since February 21st, and the next 3 weeks don't promise to be much better. It's amazing that the house is still in one piece, or that the boys actually still manage to go to school with matching socks and usually I manage to confirm that the lunch choice at school is to their liking. Let's see how the next 3 weeks go...

Also, wanted to mention that we received a phone call from a Times Union reporter who wrote a piece about Teagan and the Benefit Breakfast our church is hosting on April 15th from 9am-12noon. (St. Paul's Church, Rt 29, Rock City Falls - Shameless Plug)... I was told it will be in the paper on Tuesday, so look for it and maybe attend if you're up for good breakfast...

Once again, thank you to all our friends and family who continue to offer their help, support and well wishes...

Juergen, Holly and Kids
