Team Teagan Update | Aug 2008

Hello Team Teagan,

Bittersweet! It's been a while since my last update, and much has happened in our lives... Today marks the 1-Year anniversary of our little Teagan being cancer free... And this first year is the most fearful, as it had highest chance of the cancer returning. And although today should be a enormously joyous day for us, it is also the first day without our beloved Abby.

Sadly, Abby who had been with us for an amazing 15-Years, suffered another stroke. This one a bit more serious than the last couple she had in the spring. Before this, it only caused her some minor balance issues... but, yesterday, we woke to poor Abby being unable to walk, and what seemed to be some serious neurological issues. She looked defeated, tired and sadly suddenly it seemed very old... We gathered as a family on the back porch to say good-bye to our beloved Abby. We know that she will have her brothers Parker and Cooper waiting for her in doggy heaven, where she will be whole and without pain.. Abby be well, we all love and will miss you!!!

Hello Team Teagan,

"Remembering" Can you remember where you were on this day last year? What you were doing? Thinking? Who you were with? As you will see from the thoughts Holly wrote below, this day has been burned into our eternal memories... And today, we hugged our Teagan just a little lomger, smiled a bit brighter when we saw her, and certainly looked to the heavens with appreciation and gratitude a few more times than usual... Be Well... OK Holly take it away!

March 9th – Life Changing A year ago today, Teagan's heart stopped... and as it did, I felt that mine had also. I sit here right now with so much gratitude and praise to God for saving my child... for saving ME! March 9th, 2007 became the absolute WORST day of my life... not July 1st, 2005 (Down syndrome diagnosis day) or even February 21st, 2007 (Leukemia diagnosis day)... this was the day the doctors' said "if she makes it through the night..."

Team Teagan Update | Feb 2008

Hello Team Teagan,

"Closure". We finally can say we have reached that point in our lives! Today our Teagan had what we hope will be her last surgery to remove the access port from her chest. Hooray!! All went well with the surgery and she is home tonight doing great. Both Holly and I seemed to take a deep breath of relief after what has been almost an entire year since her February 21 diagnosis with Cancer.

Hello Team Teagan

"Cancer Free", That is the official word from the docs at club AMC. I do apologize for the delay in getting this posted, as Holly and I have both been stretched beyond belief in the last few weeks… So you'd think that we'd all this time on our hands after she is done, but seriously we have 10 months of catch up and clean-up… So that's my excuse.

Team Teagan Update | Oct 2007

ImageHi Everyone,

Just a quick up date, so I (Holly) can get this flyer out. Teagan has become a “Face” for Leukemia. Over the past several months, there have been at least six individuals training to run in various marathons to raise awareness and money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. A few weeks ago Seton Health honored Teagan by raising nearly $2,000 for the Leukemia Society at the “Light the Night” 2 mile walk. This was organized by our dear friend, Debbie Keefe, and we all participated even in the cold temperatures. We sure are thrilled to do anything we can to help raise money for this very important cause. This Friday night, Margaret Martin has organized a benefit at Carl R’s restaurant in Glens Falls (Click Here to Download Flyer). This event is to raise money for the Leukemia Society. Margaret has asked Teagan to attend, so we will be there to show our support. Please consider stopping by for great food and entertainment if you are able. Margaret will be running a marathon in honor of Teagan at Disney in January.
